Grade 6 marks the transition to middle school mathematics with five domains: Ratios and Proportional Relationships, The Number System, Expressions and Equations, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Ratio and rate reasoning, division of fractions, and the full system of rational numbers including negatives are the number-focused priorities. Students also write and evaluate algebraic expressions, solve one-step equations, and summarize and describe data distributions.
